NO 2. FATHER SKY

Check out the official video with original narration and sound design here: Zorig No 2. Father Sky

According to Mongolian creation stories, Father Sky is the creator of the universe. The Earth (Mother Earth) and Father Sky are often depicted as the parents of all beings. These two forces are seen as complementary, working together to maintain the balance of the cosmos.

The reverence for the blue sky is paramount in Mongolian culture, symbolizing purity, eternity, and the father of all. The traditional Mongolian dwelling, the ger (also known as a yurt), has a circular opening at the top, known as the toono, which is always left open to honor Father Sky. The Eternal Blue Sky (Möngke Tengri) is often personified and is associated with the fate of individuals and nations.

The Great Mongol Empire's founder, Chinggis Khan, is said to have been appointed by Tenger to unite the world under one sky, and his destiny was believed to be ordained by this sky deity. Read more about Genghis Khan below.
