(Made-to-order) NO 2. FATHER SKY: LEATHER JACKET

This leather jacket was designed by Khat Zorig for our "No 2. Father Sky" short film and handmade in Mongolia. According to Mongolian creation stories, Father Sky is the creator of the universe. The Earth (Mother Earth) and Father Sky are often depicted as the parents of all beings. These two forces are seen as complementary, working together to maintain the balance of the cosmos. 

The back embroidery was inspired by the endless knot, known as "Ulzii" pattern, which symbolizes the interconnectedness of everything in the universe and the buddhist concept of samsara - birth, death, rebirth. Ulzii is also the name of Khat's mom :)

After months of research, trial, and error, we learned shocking news - how broken the fashion industry is and how much negative impact it has on the environment.

We want to change this. By doing it differently and hopefully inspiring change along the way.

 

MATERIAL

This is made out of 100% Mongolian cow leather. Mongolians have lived centuries worshipping their 5 animals (cow, horse, camel, sheep, and goat) for giving them food, friendship, and shelter in such harsh environmental conditions.  Unlike mass manufactured leather goods made from animals treated badly or faux leather made from plastic, this is probably the most ethical and sustainable leathers you can find on the market.
